You are correct, from some(all?) of the t4 hotels the stop on sheffield way is easier to get to. There is a covered walkway into t4 from some of the hotels so if its chucking down with rain (which i know rarely happens in london) then that walkway to t4 and the bus from there can be better.
It does not give access to the h30en free bus, which was the subject of the first post.
The tfl journey planner suggests using the sheffield way stop from the premier inn terminal 4.

Assuming a weekday 4:46, 4:53, 5:18.
Owing to the lengthy gap between the 4:53 and the 5:18, It is also offering some journeys to hatton cross then the tube to t5, you arrive around the same time as the 5:18 bus so do not gain anything other than potentially not standing in the rain
