Pre-children it was:
1. Most comfortable/convenient time (including leisure time for good destinations)
2. Reasonable fair (as a responsible corporate citizen!)
3. Good chance of upgrades…or even overbooking

Post-children it is:
1. Absolute minimal time away from home
