I just did that recently in Vienna, Austria. No problems but make sure you explain clearly that you will not be checking-in the day before so that they don't count you as no-show and cancel the booking.
I emailed them again just when I boarded to remind them again (in case another agent was dealing with the initial email or what-not). It's a 3minutes matter and I'd rather be safe than sorry.
