the only thing I’m concerned about is my luggage will not be checked through because while I know Delta will check through luggage on these “connections”. I also know the crew at Air France can barely do this when it is on one ticket. I’m not very optimistic that I’ll be able to to convince them to check it through to Atlanta (the last time I checked luggage in Paris, they would only check it to New York because that was where I was going, even though my final destination on the ticket was Atlanta when I took it to the agent in New York she just rolled her eyes 😂
So so this is all a long way of asking. Will they check domestic baggage at E after I pick it up and go through customs?
My short answer is Yes. Here’s my longer explanation:
I flew CDG-BOS-MSP on DL flights on two separate tickets about three weeks ago; like you, I had a very long layover (6 hours IIRC). My luggage was checked only to Boston (I didn’t try to check it all the way through at CDG). The Delta staff in Terminal E were quite willing to check my bag on to MSP. However I wanted to SDC to an earlier flight, was having trouble doing it on the Delta app, and didn’t want to end up with my bag on a later flight than I took. So I took my bag to Terminal A, secured the SDC, and then checked the bag.
I also had a 6 hour layover on my outbound trip and spent several hours in the SkyClub in Terminal E. When I checked in the staff told me (without my asking) that I could stay longer than the 3-hour limit since the club wasn’t very busy at the time.
