At least 10 years. The original RFP was in 2014 and the contract was awarded to Alstom in 2016. And the Avelia is somewhat based on existing TGV design - this one seems like it is 100% custom. By the time this train hits the rails in 20 years, maybe cars will be 100% automated and you can sleep in them
