I'd also look at cash costs for the same flight. Keep in mind that even on AA's Basic Economy fares, BAEC Silvers still get free MCE seats and two pieces of checked baggage at no charge. I'm seeing some dates in 2025 where AA's LAX-HNL nonstops have a BE fare of just $145. If you can live with the non-refundability of BE fares (perhaps you'll have travel insurance?) and can find a fare that low on your preferred route and date of travel, I would think twice about redeeming Avios for such a flight: you would not get a great redemption value.
