Fierce competition from FR to STN (and BA to LHR) and fares much much too high to justify selecting the LCY flight, unless you are consultant, investment banker, solicitor etc where costs is not an issue. It is fair to say that presumably most of the leisure travellers on this route are on BA Avios tickets/reward tickets.
An airline can't make money on that.
I’ve always wanted to try the LCY-BLL route, but as you say, it is really expensive. I can easily save £150 or more by flying from LHR instead. So I do, as, sadly, no one pays for my splendour but me. My mum was rebooked to the LCY departure a few months ago, when her LHR-BLL flight got cancelled. I was so jealous.
