Tried to use the LAX D1 entrance yesterday when flying KL604 in paid J (purchased as DL9452 as part of a D1 itinerary.) Had already checked in/dropped bags at TBIT with AF/KLM, was just hoping to avoid the TSA line at TBIT and maybe grab a taco at the SkyClub before returning to TBIT airside.

Total bust. Was not per se denied access, but was told rather brusquely "the elevator isn't working, so no TSA screening here and you have to go up to the main T3 checkpoint." As my hoped-for time savings evaporated, I did not stick around to see if others were getting the same treatment, and did not bother with the SkyClub.

On the bright side, the new Air France lounge in TBIT west is great.
