I'd have a hard time paying the same price for AA as JL, but SWU or mileage redemption makes a big difference. I assume it will be weight-limited so not a lot of cargo on the plane either.
Our family flew it in J earlier this month. We got the experience of both seat types, and didn't have any problems with either. The food JFK-HND was outstanding- the sea bass was especially good but the Japanese meal and beef also got good reviews from our family. Coming back the food was good, but not outstanding. Service was friendly both directions. As another commenter replied, busing to/from the terminal rather than a jetbridge- not a big deal to me as that's common internationally but I get some prefer the convenience of the jetbridge. Flights were smooth both ways, and customs was a breeze.
