How is the exec. lounge?
Simply superb.
The refurbishment has made the lounge looking brighter and bigger.
The lounge is spacious, with a seating area, a dining area around the buffet and a bar.
The food offer is just perfect.
Excellent breakfast, afternoon tea and evening selection, thanks to the choice and quality of the dishes on offer (what a pleasure to taste such a delicious Comté cheese in the heart of Hong Kong).
Breakfast at the Regent Club offers a delightful mix of semi-buffet and a la carte options, featuring dishes such as the Onsen Tamago (poached egg with potato coulis), a Chinese Set (including shrimp dumpling, siu mai, plant-based beef siu mai, pan-fried white turnip cake, steamed rice flour roll, and seafood congee), a Japanese Set (with tuna tataki, grilled fish, fried seafood, steamed Japanese rice, furikake, pickled vegetables, and miso soup), French Toast (served with honeycomb and banana), and daily specials.
Afternoon tea at the club is an indulgent experience, with a buffet selection that surpasses the typical tiered offerings found in many lobby lounges.
Expect treats like Portuguese Egg Tart, Madeleine, Iberico Ham, Tomato and Black Olive Sandwich, Smoked Salmon and Ikura Sandwich, Ricotta Cheese with Walnuts and Black Truffle Sandwich, Blue Crab & Crab Roe Sandwich, Espresso Walnut Cake, Strawberry Rhubarb Tart, and classic English Scones, alongside an extensive assortment of chocolates and macarons.
The Regent Club distinguishes itself by integrating elements from the hotel's various restaurant kitchens, exemplified by the unlimited pours of Sparkling Golden Oolong with Longan Honey, a specialty tea bottled exclusively for the hotel in collaboration with local brand Mindful Sparks, also available at the premium Lai Ching Heen.
The canape buffet is equally impressive, featuring dishes like Mushroom & Cheese Chicken Wing, Beef Satay, Deep Fried Chicken Wing, Seafood Taco, Foie Gras Terrine, Miso Eggplant and Cucumber, Chinese Drunken Chicken, Serrano Ham with Lemon Melon Tartlet, Scallop Ikura in Lemon Cream, Japanese Tofu with Sesame Dressing, Champagne Jelly, Strawberry Vanilla Cakes, Matcha Puffs, and Lemon Meringue Tart. With such an extensive offering, a full dinner might not be necessary.
The bar is just fantastic for the quality of the cocktails made by an equally fabulous barman.
The service is, of course, incredibly thoughtful and attentive.
What was good and what was bad?
GOOD
- The great pleasure to see again my very good friend Raynyan 😎
- Very attentive staff
- Convenient location (the beautiful Hong Kong museum of art - with very good restaurant - is just opposite the hotel, Tsim Sha Tsui station is next to the hotel, and Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Pier is at 5 minutes walk; direct access from the hotel to K11 MUSEA luxury shopping centre).
- Nice room with superb view
- Excellent club lounge
- Excellent also breakfast at Harbourside
, the international buffet concept located on the ground level. Aside from the usual cold cuts, salads and cheese, the buffet showcases various Asian dishes such as Steamed Chicken With Cordyceps And Black Fungus
, Pan Fried Turnip Cake With XO Sauce, Pan Fried Salmon With Teriyaki Sauce, Dried Tangerine Peel Plant-Based Beef Shu Mai
and something intriguing called Singapore Stir-Fried Rice Roll With Seafood.
At the noodle station, a hearty Hong Kong Style Satay Beef Noodles
was served.
- Very pleasant outdoor pool area.
BAD
- Nothing
Value for $ or IHG One Rewards Club? Would you return?
- The renovation of the hotel is simply impressive in terms of the quality of the design and the attention paid to small details (in particular the lighting in the lobby, the mini sculptures in the lobby lounge, right down to the pool furniture and parasols).
- Legendary location for the view
- World-class hotel service
- Beautiful swimming pool and fitness centre.
- Incredible lounge (probably one of the very best I've stayed in).
As always for a hotel, what makes it great is obviously the quality of its facilities, but also the excellence of the service: the staff are charming, smiling and attentive.
Definitely one of the very best IHG hotels in the word. The former InterContinental hotel was already remarkable for the quality of its service: the new Regent adds a touch of design, interpreting contemporary luxury in a slick and subtle way.
Can’t wait to come back!
