For the amount of volume it handles, EWR is not able to recover faster than other similar airports under similar conditions. It needs a new runway or two, but there is no space. 11/29 would be more useful if not for the congested airspace.

Other major airports can have more than one takeoff at a time and/or landing without affecting one or the other.
