We have the printed authorization which we received by email, and, it is supposed to be electronically associated with the passport. Still, we would like to get the app unlocked.

I would suggest using the 'contact us' link inside the app to reset the passcode, if there are no other obvious ways.
As far as I can tell, the passcode is there to protect the information on your device (not to access 'cloud-based' data). So uninstalling the app, and deleting the app data, then reinstalling may trigger a new passcode query.
