I had a variation on this coming back from LHR to GLA last week. After take off, one member of the cabin crew came around and took drink orders, a row at a time, and did a hand-run drinks & nuts service. A few minutes later, the IFM came around and took food orders, again doing them hand-run from the galley rather than taking the trolley in to the cabin. Unusual to see on a short domestic hop. But they managed it with plenty of time to spare, and a couple of extra drink runs towards the end.
