Looks like the Park Hyatt Chicago is in the thick of DNC VIP accommodation and logistics. It's been essentially sealed off from regular traffic with a one-block security perimeter defined by tall steel riot fences and temporary traffic-stopping access chokepoints. Even Chicago Avenue, out front, has been closed. One presumes some VIPs requiring the highest levels of security are staying there, or in the residences above, or both.
Anyway, condolences to any who made reservations well in advance but got bigfooted or otherwise inconvenienced this week.
I checked out yesterday, We were woke up to sounds of beeping as they installed the barricades on Saturday. Sunday the security was in full form. We meet one family that was checking out Monday. That doesn't sound fun. After checking out we had to snake our way outside following a bellman and catch uber over on Michigan.
