I also agree that Post Ranch Inn is definitely better than Ventanna. Ventanna's atmosphere and rooms are more similar to the standard of a high end chain hotel, while Post Ranch Inn is unique and spectacular.

I thought the mountain view houses, which are slightly less expensive than the coastal view houses, have just a nice a view. It depends on what you want. You see more wildlife with the mountain view, it is more private, and you can always see the ocean vistas from pretty much everywhere else on the property.
