Indeed the bassinet is at 2G. Can upload some pics after the flight.
We didn't end up using the bassinet on our first flight. It was a day flight, she spent most of it sitting on our laps or laying on the mattress pad, which is wide enough to accommodate an adult and infant. Having the extra space was a huge help as she could roll around, we brought plenty of toys to keep her entertained too.
The JAL crew were great - they also supplied a few toys & baby goods including a little toy plane and JAL branded colourful face washer. They improvised senbei in a sealed cup as a small rattle also.
She was very well behaved - we've found that as long as she's drinking on take off and at the top of descent, she seems to have no discomfort with ear pressure/equalising and doesn't cry at all. She was practically silent the whole flight and two other F pax (it was a full cabin) smiled and interacted with her during a ~30 minute wait for a gate on the ground at Haneda so I guess they weren't bothered by her presence either.
Will report back if we end up using the bassinet on the flight home which is a night flight, but we might just opt to put her down on the mattress pad for that flight too.
Something that did surprise us is no baby seat belt supplied for takeoff and landing - we've been supplied one on QF and VA flights in the past. Not sure if that's only a 777/F thing or all JL aircraft/classes. We are flying JL domestic in a few days ... will see.
