This, so much this.
I will make 1K this year. Forecasting 56 PQFs and 19,200 PQPs.
I was going to be short PQFs and so booked a couple of mileage tickets. That change has been a saver on the PQFs, and next year, since I have the Quest card will get an additional 10,000 miles on my card anniversary as well as two "free" flights.
My Quest spend estimate will be 3,000 PQPs but may come in a little under but that is okay as more than the Explorer PQP limit of 1,000 PQPs.
1K is worth it for me for the PlusPoints on TPAC x 2 and TATL x 2 each year. I like being able to book my preferred economy seat at time of booking and access to limited IN that got me a Polaris seat SYD-SFO for January. I do get CPUs domestically, although not all the time and quite frankly bulk head or exit row in economy is fine for my domestic travel.
With all that said if I were going to be short 6,000 PQPs not sure I would spend the gap. I fly on my own dime. So not an issue for 2025 ststus for me but may be an issue for 2026 status depending upon where the new targets lie.
