OT: but what I found interesting in one of those videos I think was the mention that Luxotica has also been buying up the parts earlier in the supply chain, so even if you are purchasing a non-Luxotica frame, Luxotica potentially is now involved with the raw components or smaller individual pieces. They are basically trying to take over the whole industry/chain, so they are there start to finish. Ugh.

I wouldn't necessarily let that put you off. You might want to do some more research on specific shops and such, but I would trust a technician more in Japan to cut your lenses correctly over someone in the states, without knowing more. But you might need more time, just in case they do mess it up the first time. (My husband had his latest lenses cut in Europe at the factory and they messed it up on the first try over there even.)
