BA separating families 'to extend first class' (PFO-LGW, aircraft change A321->A320)

Good morning flyers,

I am due to fly from Paphos to London this afternoon, and have pre booked my seats so that my family (partner and 2YO son) can sit together. The flight is around 5 hours, and although he did well flying in to Cyprus, this flight is during his night time sleeping hours, leaving Paphos at 21.25, and there will surely be turbulance. Of course this is not BAs fault that this was the flight we have booked.
I checked in to my flight last night to find that our designated seats had stop existing (row37 no longer existed) and my partner and son had been allocated seats separately to me, several rows ahead. Anybody with children can likely understand the anxiety that creeps in at this point. I immediately got in touch with customer services who decided to reside in the chocolate teapot territory of usefulness. They may be restrained by business protecting policy but the lack of empathy was almost as frustrating as the situation itself. After being told ‘we will not move you’ several times I was advised to speak to a member of staff at the airport. I do not see an outcome that serves my family other than ‘please fill in this refund form’.
So, please wish me luck.
I am hoping for the person sat next to my family is understanding and will swap with me, but forgive me for refraining for holding my breath.

Best,
