I take this route a couple of times a year to visit friends in Bangkok, do some shopping and indulge in Thai food. I usually spend the night in HK to check my flat, pick up any mail and pop into the bank etc. if I so wish. Last year MNL/HKG and vv sectors have been more than 50% 33Ps. I make sure that I avoid the beer can flights 906/907 and 913/976. I used to like 906 but no more. HKG/BKK and vv recently only had the excellent A350 on the SIN connectors so I have flown HKG/BKK at a reasonable time in the morning and BKK/HKG a little later than I would really like in the afternoon. I recently checked for my trip in January and was amazed to find that all four sectors were being offered on multiple flights with the excellent LH seat. I booked flights at my preferred times, blessed CX and will now cross my fingers. As a bonus the cost, including the extra tax for overnighting in HK both ways, was less than that for TGs direct service.
