Planes still tend to be parked at stands not-in-use though, which means that moving to E might necessitate some extra towing or ramp capacity, which might tack on some extra delay time.

For your reference, I just counted, and in this morning's big 8AM hub wave, there were 18 flights leaving from the A world, and this evening in the 10PM wave there are 10. So, there might have to be some departure time shifts or gate reassignments to a handful of flights when moving regionals over to Terminal E, but it likely shouldn't be too big of a deal.
Both C and D, as well as Z, handle a lot of regionals. A is never full unless C/D/Z are really full.
