I spoke with customer service again and they did two things for me:
1- Refunded the points to my account (good, but now they are stuck at SQ instead of with my credit card)
2- Rebooked us on the LAX>SIN flight even though there was no award availability and I only had a saver award.
The rep I got was super helpful and listed to my concerns. He said he would call me back within three days and he did. While the initial interaction wasn't ideal since the rep did not/wasn't prepared to offer a solution, the other person I got handled it exceptionally well.
Good that you got an acceptable resolution. But I don't get it - you got your miles refunded AND rebooked on another routing?
Regarding 1 - SQ's responsibility (rightfully) rests when they credit the miles back to your KF account, they're not responsible for how you got the miles via CC transfer. Perhaps you can chalk this as a win and use it for other *A redemptions or, failing which, treat yourself to something onboard Krisshop.
