I have no kids and generally no responsibilities, so I don't mind giving up my Sunday to travel given how infrequent it is, but wondering how others handle business travel days?
I did the West Coast to East Coast business trip a lot when I was working. Rarely did I have to be on the East Coast on Monday morning, so usually I'd fly early in the morning on a work day and work from the hotel on arrival - at least catch up on email. Often was traveling with a small group of co-workers for meetings, so we'd do a meeting prep dinner in the evening before meeting day(s). If I did need to be on the East Coast on Monday then I'd fly on Sunday.
For the return trip, I'd try to arrange an evening flight back to the west coast on the last working day of the trip - I'd rather have a late night traveling than spending another night on the road to travel home the following day.
A couple times I flew a red eye to the east coast, had a couple hours of meetings, then flew home - DO NOT recommend it!
