I usually set-up a seat-alert on Expert Flyer (EF) to know if my seat has been involuntary changed. In the last three weeks, my partner and I, have received notices that our seats were 'unassigned' on each upcoming segment for various TK flights between September and the end of December (6 total, with alerts generated at random times). There were no notices of changes given by TK, because on our TK reservations (app & web) the original seats were always showing as still assigned, while in EF the seat(s) were now showing as vacant/available. I am left to believe that the seat assignment on the reservation are now phantom and EF is accurate. I base this on the fact that for one situation, where my partner and I are traveling on separate PNRs, I received an alert from EF that my seat 2A became available (partner is in 2B, no alert generated). When I checked my reservation (app) it still showed me as assigned to 2A. When I checked the graphical seat map on the website, it also still showed me in 2A. Now, here is the interesting part, when I checked the seat map on the TK website using my partner's PNR (same flight), lo and behold, 2A was actually available (as per EF map)! I even ran a test to see if he could be moved to 2A and it worked. So at this point, there were two people assigned to the same seat 2A in TKs IT system! I go back into my original reservation and now choose 2B (essentially we swapped seats at this point). For now, TK and EF once again agree.... but for how long?

The unfortunate situation is that for those without EF, or who don't have the luxury of knowing someone with a separate PNR on the same flight, there would be no way to know if your seat has been given up!

Note: For one of the flights I thought it had to do with an upcoming aircraft swap (ex. removing all "C" and "J" aisle seats); but then I received alerts for every single segment for various aircraft various aisle/rows.

After selected seat selections were cancelled, and unable to be reselected online and with call center, I was directed to my local THY sales offices; seats reselected without issues.
Hopefully, the reselected seat assignments stay when flying in February 2025
