It feels like things have cleaned up a bit around there and the hotel is very close to the Mercato Centrale Roma foodhall, so lots of foot traffic. I wouldn't want to stay there if I wanted to be in the heart of gelato eating, monument defacing touristdom, but if I felt comfortable taking the bus without all my worldly possessions in my lululemon fanny pack and enjoyed seeing some smaller sites (domus aurea, santa maria maggiore, esquilino market), I would stay here. Its an easy walk down to the centro with some cool stuff on the way and you can definitely take the metro/bus back at the end of the day. What I do like about the location is that getting to the train to Florence would be easy peasy.
