Yes, I can see that I'd also get checked luggage allowance but as I'm heading straight to an event on landing, was hoping to just have my carry on, and hopefully not need to check or gate-check it.

I've got a carry on within the small dimensions allowed, so will go straight to the gate in that case, and hopefully can avoid having to gate check it.
