Buying RX Eyeglasses in Tokyo
It’s time to retire my Warby Parkers and get new glasses and lenses, and given the weak yen, I can’t think of a better place to get new glasses than Japan, specifically frames made in Sabae, Fukui which are the best in the world.
I’ve settled on a couple designs, either the Matsunaga 089 in blue, or the 999.9 NPM11B or perhaps the Japonism JS183.
So a couple questions.
1. I can’t find any pricing for Matsunaga in Japan, only overseas. Are there any stores in Tokyo that sell their frames at a discount or reasonable price aside from the brand owned stores? I would assume if the overseas price is $450 the Japan price should convert to considerably less
2. Are there any optical stores that have advanced technology lenses and fast same-day or 24hr turnaround? I’m looking for a high index progressive bifocal with UV, anti reflective and perhaps some of the newer technology features I’ve seen advertised. I saw JINS and Zoff have some interesting lenses but I didn’t like their frames
