I've done both on this route, did the BA 380 once because I needed the BA segment to hit BA status quicker, and never again at least until they're retrofitted. I always do AA metal on this route between the significantly better, more modern hard product and the significantly better reliability. The BA 380 is almost a guaranteed delay, BA's on time performance is awful as is (worse than AA's) but even worse on the 380s which are plagued with maintenance delays. In my experience, I did it on LHR-DFW and it started as a 30 minute delay because they had to replace a wheel and then turned into us boarding, sitting on the plane for over 2 hours at the gate, and leaving 3 hours late because after the wheel was replaced, a panel then wouldn't secure and they kept telling us it'd only be another 5-10 minutes the whole 2+ hours.

AA will be a much better experience on this route and the food doesn't even need to be considered in this equation because the BA 380 is just that bad to where it doesn't matter. Although, I have found the food in AA long haul biz to be pretty good lately, I have been pleasantly surprised. Now if something happens and BA keeps the 77W on the route after this winter, then I'd fly BA, but as long as it's an A380, run.
