You are absolutely right if we as an example talks HH or Bonvoy in the US, where everybody and their neighbours got elite status through CC being FF elite, working for the right company, the list goes on...
There you can talk about watered out benefits, best example is breakfast credits to purchase single items. One doesn't even get a breakfast as top elite. And to get an upgrade is so 1990
My hunch is that more people has left RR rewards due to points earnings after the "enhancement", then the other way around. Making the program more valuable for you and I am quite sure one small promotion like this will change that.
Just out of curiosity what is your upgrade % as VIP?
