I’ve seen an A380 zeroed out with more than half the CW cabin unallocated a few days out. Only for every seat to be taken by having basically the whole WTP cabin to be op upped as they accommodated oversales and staff travel within the last few hours before departure.
I really don’t bother reading into the numbers anymore, best to just book the cabin you want and if you end up forwards it’s a nice bonus. If it’s because you want a seat in the first place it’s tough luck, BA generally get the loads spot on so they don’t sell last minute seats and then disappoint more people than is absolutely necessary.
