I was just informed the ATH->IST part is delayed by 1h55m, leaving me with just ~30 minutes to layover in Istanbul. This is lower than the airport's 60 minutes MCT (found this using Google search), so it seems I should be qualifying for EC261 if I miss the connection and be able to get 600 EUR.
Turkish in the email mentioned that I can change my ticket for free and instead of flying today to Istanbul I can fly tomorrow. My question is if I take this option can I still claim the 600 EUR, or I must to go to IST, miss the flight, and fly tomorrow to ICN to qualify for the 600? I assume TK has to pay for my lodging in the IST airport if I fly today.
Also follow up question, If I decide to fly today, can I show up and check-in at the airport 2 later than I normally would since I was informed of the schedule change?
If it makes any difference I am *A Gold flying economy.
Thank you
I would say that if you change your ticket for free it would count as a voluntary change and therefore you would not be eligible for compensation.
If the Haneda flight is late as well you may still make it.
