I appreciate the fact I get to keep and re-qualify for status for a 2 year period, whereas I believe SQ like most other airlines is requalification every year. That plus the initial qualification for *G is 10k miles less which will make it easier to obtain. Flying 2-3 times a year in J it won't matter as much for you perhaps, but still something to consider.
