Whilst a slightly different question, there was lots of discussion around this scenario (expenses vs benefits) in this thread: two elite levels, same room, one reimbursement

As others have said, it doesn't hurt to let the hotel know, but strictly per the T&Cs you wouldn't be entitled to any benefits.
