Once the food is in front of me, I can eat it in 5 min. Sometimes the portion size is like one bite, sometimes it's huge.
I'm going to assume 35 min is to boarding and not departure. I've been to airport restaurants where I tell then I only have 30 min and they say it's no problem so I can understand someone new to Polaris have this idea
Based on this report, it sounds like the dining room is getting full more often. The past few years, I've never had to wait for a seat. It was only in June where I had an issue
Anyways, is the menu still the same? I'm heading there this week
Also, I have a really long layover and am thinking about doing a tour is all the lounges at IAD as it's been a while. Do they have anywhere you can store your luggage? I know other airline lounges have that but I don't recall seeing it at UA
