The recent data points on not being allowed to split seats is frustrating. I have UA154 connecting to UA133 upcomming in a couple weeks for the full island hopper plus GUM-ROR-MNL legs.

HNL-MAJ is PZ8, but HNL-GUM is PZ0. Asked a friendly agent if they could split it out so I could pick different seats for each leg and was told they can't do that anymore.

So if I'm reading this right, it's either all or nothing for upgrades? I doubt PZ2 will show up. But I guess it could be worse?
