I found that faq answer from the first page of a Google search. If it’s not accurate or specific to the hub, then MH should either remove or make that fact clear. Regardless, this contributes to my feeling that the airline is just not a smooth operation compared to its regional peers, unfortunately.
So then, you tried to check in the day before, correct?
(If same day 12h early, I would be surprised, given others’ and my own experience in doing so with no problem.)

might be relevant to MH’s home airport KLIA — not Changi — and also they should clarify & update that FAQ.
Still, if it was the previous day, the check-in agent (and her colleague) was correct in telling you they did not check bags in one day early, the manager gave you an exception. (Again, Changi Jewel’s MH early check-in is same-day-only.)
