As stated by previous posters, the duty of care is still applicable under EU Reg. 261/04 regardless if caused by weather or other extraordinary circumstances.

It is in the US AA or other US carriers will refuse to provide accommodation, meals etc in case of cancellation or delays due to weather.

UK261 is not applicable here. EU Reg. 261/04 is applicable as the OP stated that this was a CDG to BOS itinerary.
