Transited DFW twice last week and had tarmac transfer both instances. On one occasion, my inbound flight was extremely delayed (weather) to the point where my connecting flight was already halfway through boarding in another terminal when we touched down. CK rep texted with a confirmed backup flight in J and had the SUV waiting at the gate in hopes that we could still make the original. Went straight to the next gate's jetbridge and boarded from tarmac with essentially T-2. Really appreciated that as the backup flight would have been several hours later.
