Meal Selection by Status
Yesterday, me and Mrs. D were travelling signature class (789), domestic and was wondering if the meal orders are taken in priority of status, I am 50k and my wife does not have status. I was watching the FA take orders and he seemed to start at row 1, seats A and D and worked toward the back, I was seated in 4D, so I near the top and got my choice of entree. My wife was seated in 4G.
Then I noticed the FA go to the starboard side, starting at row 1, then went to rows 2, then 3, then went to the back, row 8, working backwards to row 7, 6, 5, and finally 4. So my wife was the last to choose and of course did not get her first choice of entree.
Being 50k, did not seem to make a difference on my entree order, just because I was seated towards the front I was one of the first to choose.
So the question is, do they take orders by status level, MM>SE>100k>75k>50k, etc? Or do they just do SE and up?
The funny thing is that when I came back from the washroom, I noted a printed passenger list for J and nowhere did it state status level, maybe that is why and they just did the orders by random? Or maybe there were no SE seated in J?
Mods, feel free to move this to the food and beverage thread...
