I was reminded of this again when GH deliberately refused to honor Globalist room upgrade benefit to one of my GoH on a recent stay, even after Corporate called and told the manager on duty they were required to upgrade her to best available room.
That has not been our experience in a number of stays at GH. we've always been treated well and upgraded, albeit rarely to the same size of the one we got at SOMA in our one recent stay. So, for us at least, treatment is not distinguishing and then it's the superior breakfast at SOMA versus the superior lounge at GH.
We did have one stay at SOMA during the pandemic (back when it was a straight Hyatt for a couple of weeks, and helped our Brand Explorer) and that was very nice considering the world situation at that point.
But others will certainly have different experiences.
