For travel to Upstate New York, on Delta you would likely connect at JFK or DTW; on AA it would likely be at PHL or ORD. (And on UA -- if you wanted to consider Star Alliance -- it would likely be at EWR, IAD, or ORD.)
Thanks for the message. Yes indeed on BAEC Silver and access to Main Cabin Extra, which I enjoyed for many years, along with layovers "enjoyed" in PHL and ORD (and occasionally BOS). I'm just finding that maintaining my past level of flying would - at least while BA/AA have fares at the level they do, even when booking 3-6 months out - cost thousands more per year.
Perhaps I'll just put these upcoming flights to Delta for the sake of having enough miles to do something with, even if SkyMiles aren't worth much, since those 22,000 have been sitting unused for years.
