Update on my experience, I flew 2 different domestic and 1 international flights last week. I checked in online and got our boarding passes. Never stopped by the check in desk. Walked on to 3 different flights this way and gate agents never mentioned anything about the luggage. We weren't obviously over limits but if bags had been weighed they would have been over.
