You mentioned the Intercontinental; does that mean you can use any IHG hotel like Holiday Inn?
I stayed at the Holiday Inn Osaka Namba in May this year. This is in the touristy Dotonbori area with lots of things to see, experience and eat if you don't mind the heavy crowds.
