No refund after 24 hours but still next day
Perhaps this has changed for United, and I just haven't been paying attention? My inadequate search terms didn't turn up anything here, sorry!
I bought a ticket for my daughter yesterday at around 12 noon ET. It is a one-way between two domestic cities, and just regular economy for about a month from now (definitely not basic economy, and in the S bucket). Her plans have changed, so I went in to cancel it at ~8 pm ET, and was only given the option of a future flight credit.
I absolutely understand that this is not within the 24 hour published window, and, frankly, she flies United often enough that she will easily use that credit by its 8/9/25 expiration. However, I seem to recall that I have been able to cancel tickets in the past beyond that 24 hours as long as it was before midnight the next day, and get a refund to the original form of payment. Are they more strictly enforcing the 24 hour rule now? (And has this actually been going on for a while and I am just out of it?)
