True story -- sad, in a way. I was flying back from LAS and being so used to shoe carnival airports and not wanting to be harassed I automatically took my shoes off. The screener said it wasn't required for tennis shoes and I put them back on before walking through the WTMD and no problems there. So two thumbs up to LAS for being sensible and reminding me that there is still some some sanity in the airline security someplace (and a ditto to the good folks at PIT who have always been very good IMHO)

I'm going back to fighting the powah', shoes stay on!
