I don't think you are taking this too far. I hate too that type of attitude. Anyone can make mistake of course, but here they invent false reasons for not providing something and they don't take care to send a simple apology email as a follow-up. As
Starflyergold said, I doubt you will hear anything from them. Just put this hotel on your no-stay list and boycott them. If you receive the satisfaction survey, do an honest review.
