Q/ - connecting two *A bookings together

Hi,
I'm planning a trip where I'll fly into AKL using AC and then fly ANZ locally to get to CHC.

As it's a long flight I will have checked luggage, and right now it ends up cheaper to book the AC leg independently vs. ticketing all to AC (It's a bit unclear to me if I'll get SQM for the CHC leg if I ticketed all under 014 stick - if I do that might actually sway me to book in one ticket even with slightly higher pricing).

Q1) In the event I book separately (YYZ-> AKL, AKL-, was wondering if there's a way to tell the ppl at check-in so I don't have to check-out and recheck back in AKL so the luggage just goes straight through.

Q2) if I end up with a slightly different routing where I land at AKL, spend a day there and then book a roundtrip separately for CHC, is there a way to connect my parents to my PNR so they have the G* connected to them? They will only be flying one-way from AKL-CHC in that scenario. My guess is no but checking in case anyone here has a way to do it [ it's more so we travel together through security etc.]

Thanks!
