There are multiple reports of Hertz doing this crap and overcharging pax for cars from the ultimate choice area. Any future rentals if you get a bad price on the contract, I suggest either backing up and going back to the rental booth/building... or simply getting out of the car and taking the keys and walking back to the booth with your contract.

And thank you for the suggestion regarding going back. I considered doing that but we had somewhere we had to be and the wait to get to someone at the counter is almost always very long.
