If i qualified for the banked year and then gifts, the next year will be a brand new year for me which I need to earn 810 SP from air nz flights, that happens to my husbands elite membership.
But now as AirNZ extended the airpoint membership qualifying date to match with star Alliance date this month, I just earned a banked year which is not my liking. Just to plan for my trips next 12 months, if I didn’t qualify for Elite in the next 12 months which I would keep my status anyway by using the banked year I just earned, but for any status points I earned for the next 12 months period, will they be rolled over into the next qualifying year? Or the status points I earned during the year will be wiped as I used my banked year to retain Elite? Thanks
Bit confused. APD (Air Points $) are used to book flights, I did not think you gained SP (Status Points) or earned A$ when booking using $APD. This would not help retain status at all. This year is the first year since 2016 that I have not earned enough SP to retain elite and have had to rely on a banked year to hold status. Banked years a great and I grabbed as many as I could through extensive travel 2016-2020 and managed 7 over that time.
With all the changes in the degrading of AirNz earn rates and reduction in travel I would fly just enough to retain elite then switch to another loyalty program. I have a bit of International travel planned over the next 12-24 months which I am structuring to just hold elite and then have both KrisFlyer and M&M accounts to use for earn over and above elite.
