So case in point, we booked Standard Fare Y CDG-YUL on 01AUG2024. Flight was oversold in Y. We got the complimentary upgrade to O at D-55 when the onload system ran. Clearly a non-status TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite credit card holder on a Standard Fare was one of the highest priorities for the upgrade to accommodate all the oversold no-status Y customers (!). Shows that there was little to no demand for premium fares during the Olympics as this kind of upgrade has never happened to us before.
Also, it seems quite true that point of sale Europe would be very low for bookings to Canada this summer as many stayed to watch the Games, whether at home or in France (given the time zones). I have seen very few Europeans in YYC last month, especially down for Stampede.
For the above post, the added capacity to Asia was mentioned as YYZ-KIX and YUL-ICN so no added capacity ex-YVR for the fares you want LOL.
